Personal Statement

Dr. Olubanke Ilo is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Ophthalmology at the College of Medicine, University of Lagos. As an early-career faculty member and emerging leader in ophthalmic research, my work explores the clinical, epidemiologic, and genetic correlates of ocular diseases with research interests  which span from ocular surface diseases, oculoplastics, refractive errors, and low vision, with a strong commitment to preventive eye care and vision optimization.

In addition to my research contributions, I am a dedicated team leader and mentor, fostering academic growth and professional development among junior faculty. My mission is to advance public awareness and scientific understanding of eye health so that no one goes needlessly blind — advocating for better eyes for a better life.
