Personal Statement

Daniel Oluwafemi ODEBIYI is a professor of Musculoskeletal (Spine) and Ergonomics Physiotherapy at the department of physiotherapy, Faculty of Health Professions, College of Medicine of the University of Lagos (CMUL). My research areas include physiotherapy training and practice, with particular focus in Preventive Physiotherapy, including management of orthopaedics (musculoskeletal) disorders, and enhancement/ promotion of the application of ergonomic principles in clinical setting (practice), and Workplace (Office and Factory), particularly in the holistic prevention and management of Work-related Musculoskeletal (Spine) Disorders (WMSDs). My quest to translate research into product led me to develop the Nigerian Back School Model in 2004 (available at www.nigerianbackschool.com); which is a Health Education programme for the conservative management of individuals with Back pain. I am a review author with Cochrane “Back and Neck” Review Group, with two published reviews, and one protocol.
